March 28th,  S.M.V.G Military Swap Meet,  Institute Hall, Bridge of Earn. (2 mins off Jct 9, M90)  Come along and buy and sell your items of militaria, military vehicle parts and collectables. Traders/ individuals welcome. Single item to sell? no problem, see the QM on the day. Not enough items to fill a table? share with someone else. Military vehicles and exhibits on display. Refreshments available on site.  Admission 10am-4pm, adults £1, accompanied under 16's free.

 April 2nd/3rd,  The 2010 Commando March. Over 90 marchers expected to attend this years march from Spean Bridge to Achnacarry house. As usual, SMVG military vehicles are required to help with transporation. Contact John Webster on 01655 760215 or Pete Scally on 01655 760380 if you can help out.

April 16th (Fri) Army Cadet Force 150th Anniversary Tattoo at Barry Buddon Camp. SMVG military vehicles of WW2 era are invited to attend this event to take part in a parade to represent the wartime period in AFC history. Vehicles of other eras would also be appreciated to form up in a static display.The Tattoo will be combined with an Open Afternoon which starts at 1500hrs and the Tattoo itself will begin at 16.30hrs. There will be overnight parking at the base on Thursday and Friday night if required and a meal in the mess on Friday Night.

 April 23rd (Friday) The Kennedy Cupcakes 1st Birthday Bash. 1940's charity ball in aid of Help For Heroes, at the Alona Hotel, Strathclyde Country Park, Motherwell, ML1 3RT. 7.30 until midnight. April 25th, FBHVC “Drive It Day”. The Drive It Day initiative orchestrated by the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs provides an opportunity for many member clubs to hold events in support of FBHVC’s work, and this event is becoming a major national occasion.  You don’t have to do anything special to take part - just use your historic vehicle that day. Contact your local ALO, they may or may not have something organised in your area, if not just simply go out and “Drive It”

Northern Area~ Meet at Bellfield Car Park, Dee St. Banchory circa 10.00hrs. dept. 10.15hrs route is as follows Banchory to Ballater via Strachan, Finzean over Corse Darder hill to Ballogie proceeding up south Deeside road to Ballater, we will not go into Ballater yet but will proceed to go up Glen Muick to Loch Muick at bottom of Lochnager. Return trip down to Ballater park up for a while ( ice cream etc.etc. ) then down north deeside ropad calling in past gliding strip at Aboyne ( to watch gliders if a fine day ) then back to Banchory via Aboyne and Kincardine O' Neil ( aka KINKER ). South West Area ~ In an attempt to encourage those in the Northern reaches of the Area, the RV for this years run will be the Erskine Hospital garden centre car park. The coffee shop will be open (all proceeds go to the Hospital),  Leaving Erskine at approx 10.30. Scenic run of approx 60 miles via some places of interest with a stop for lunch. Central Area ~ Outline plan is to R.V. at 10.00 hrs at Balbeggie Filling Station cafe for coffee / breakfast (park up in rear car park). Following a period of vehicle comparison, admiration and general blether we will embark on a mystery scenic convoy tour of approximately 30 miles concluding in the Perth area. South East Area~ Planning to meet in Lauder. To notify your interest and for further details contact Alistair Smith on 01578 722473.

If you are close to one of the planned events then simply get in touch with the area co-ordinator to participate. If none of these events are convenient then why not arrange your own meet to suit yourself and other local club members.
Failing that and if you live on top of a remote mountain then just go for a run around the mountain but lets fire up those MVs and get out and about on the day. Oh yes, and whatever you do, be sure to take some photos and pass them to the Publicity Officer.

May 22/23, Blyth Battery Show. An invite has been extended to us to attend with our military vehicles at the recently refurbished coastal battery at Blyth, Northumberland. 29th Field Kitchen will be on parade to feed us all. June,5th/6th,  The Heart of Scotland Airshow 2010 will be staged over 2 days at Perth Airport. The aim of this event is to celebrate some of the many aviation anniversaries happening in 2010.

1. The 100th Anniversary of the FIRST Scottish International Flight
Meeting staged at Lanark in 1910!
2. The 800th Anniversary of the Royal Burgh of Perth!
3. 70th Anniversary of The Battle of Britain!
4. 75th Anniversary of AST Aviation Training!
5. 50 years of AST Operations at Perth Airport!

The event also aims to raise money for some worthy local and National
Charities and have a GREAT weekend of aviation from the past, the present and hopefully International too! More details and updates to their website will be from early January 2010.

June 11th-13th, St Valery en Caux, France.  Commemorative events to mark the 70th anniversary of the capture of the 51st Highland Division by axis forces in 1940. June 20th, HMS Caledonia Fair, Rosyth Raising the public profile of the Royal Navy and raising money for nominated charities with performances by military bands and displays from Navy, Army and Airforce and reserve units.  Also stalls, raffles, tombolas and a lot more family entertainment makes this a fun day out for all the family. July 2nd (Friday) Armed Forces Day, Perth.

Perth Armed Forces Day will be a day of commemoration and celebration showcasing the Army, the Royal Air Force, the Royal Navy and the Royal British Legion, Massed Pipes and Drums, uniformed youth organisations and veterans associations in a parade which will begin at the North Inch, circuit round Perth returning to the North Inch via a saluting dias in Tay Street. The club is hoping to put on a high visibility vehicle display during the afternoon and there will also be a "Beating the Retreat" at Perth Concert Hall that evening.

 

Timings to be confirmed but will be around mid morning assembly for the parade with possible display from 1 ‘ish til late afternoon.

July 10th & 11th. Through The Ages, Central Scotland Living History Show. at the Scottish Adventure Centre, Harthill, Glasgow,  ML7 5TG. Just off Jct 5, M8. 10am~5pm both days.(advanced ticket bookings may arrive from 9am, Last entry is 3.30pm)

The Scottish Adventure Centre in conjunction with the Living History Society of Scotland is proud to announce a new event situated at Harthill.

 

The two day show  will encompass living history displays and craft demonstrations covering a wide variety of historical periods including : Romans, Vikings, Jacobite wars, Napoleonic wars, World War I and World War II.

 

These will include actual battle re-enactments throughout both days

 

Come and experience what is was like in our new authentically built World War I trench or see the defensive lines the Allies had to break through to liberate Europe from the beach on D-Day to the Siegfried line on the borders of Germany.

 

There will be Classic cars and Military Vehicles in the show.

(Classic car or military vehicle owners are required to pre book before 30th May by email to info@scottishadventurecentre.com) (Food and refreshments will be provided for entrants during the event)

 

There will be a variety of trade stalls, selling historical and history themed wares,  hand crafted products and replica Militaria so there's something for everyone.

 

There is also airsoft and paintball ranges along with military vehicle rides.

 

There is free car parking available and plenty of catering where all kids eat free! and a fairground on site

 

Admission is £5 per adult £1 per child under 16 or a family ticket (2 adults 2 children) £10.

Admission to the fairground is £5 per person for a day bracelet.
