5th April, Third Commando March from Achnacarry to Spean Bridge. The organisers are looking for SMVG members with period vehicles to transport marchers up to Acnacarry House and to act as safety vehicles during the march. The event this year is open to any re-enactors who portray WWII Comandos or US Rangers. Contact Peter Scally on 01655 760380 for further info.

20th April, FBHVC “Drive It Day” . The Drive It Day initiative orchestrated by the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs provides an opportunity for many member clubs to hold events in support of FBHVC’s work, and this event is sure to become a major national occasion.  You don’t have to do anything special to take part - just use your historic vehicle that day. Contact your local ALO, they may or may not have something organised in your area, if not just simply go out and “Drive It”

5th May "Jute and Jitterbugging - Dundee at War", Verdant Works, Dundee,11am-4pm. Special event about the role played by Dundee and its citizens during the Second World War. The organisers are looking for a small number of Home Front related re-enactors to take part, i.e Home Guard, ARP etc. A couple of SMVG vehicles will be situated at the museum entrance. 10th & 11th May, Steam in The Park, Balado (Steam Traction Engine Society)  We have been invited back for 2008, turned out to be a good event for us last year, lets make the next one even bigger and better! Contact Alan Barnes 01577 863138.

17th & 18th May , Vintage Working Weekend at the B.A Country Store, Lyne of Skene, Dunecht. Proprietor Alan Brownie has once again invited us to attend this event where we have our own area set aside amongst the trees. Main charity to benifit this year is  Marie Curie Cancer Care. 8th June, The 51st Highland Division Veterans Associations' final march through Perth City centre. We have been invited to attend this important event with our military vehicles. Contact Al Smith ASAP if you would like to attend. Tel 01307 467215.

8th June, Tayside Classic Motor Show. Tayside Classic Car Club extends us an invitation to attend with our military vehicles. 20th~22nd June, Scone Airfield Open Day. The Scottish Aero Club have invited us to attend this event with our military vehicles. A camping area will be provided from the Friday night with the main public event being on the Saturday. A BBQ and beer tent is planned. 28th June, National Veterans Day. To be held in Aberdeen this year. The parade will form up on Albyn Place which will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 10am before setting off down Union Street at 11.00am. During the parade an RAF MR2 will fly over whilst Officer Cadets will abseil off the Town House as the parade progresses. Dispersal in King Street and thereafter to Gordon Barracks, Bridge of Don. Over 800 are expected to participate in the match. Our MV's may be required to transport some of the more infirm Veterans along the march route. 13th and 14th September. SMVG "30" National Show at Farming Yesteryear, Scone Palace. See News Page. Extra special event this year as we celebrate 30 years of the Scottish Military Vehicle Group. Road run on the Saturday followed by a BBQ in the marquee in the evening. Entry forms to be sent out to club members in the next edition of Despatch. Specially commisioned souvenir plaque presented to all miliary vehicle entrants. Charity walker Bobby Campbell OBE will be present on Sunday to help raise cash for SSAFA forces help. 25th/26th October, Crank Down at the Montrose Air Station Heritage Museum. It's the seasons close, so why not wind down and celebrate the end of another busy season amidst good company with a few drinks and a bite to eat. Arrival from Friday night if desired.
