Exceptionally restored 1942 Ex British army Ford GPW.
Here we have for sale our Ford GPW which as you can see in the pictures is in outstanding condition. It is UK registered with age related registration and V5 is present.
There is a British rebuild tag on the chassis and we have a copy of the Key card showing it served with the British Army of the Rhine until 1959 and the hood numbers are original to this Jeep.
During the year every part of the Jeep underwent restoration including a full strip and re-build of: Engine, t84 gearbox, transfer box, axles, Hubs & swivels, steering box, and all new brakes. Electrics are 12v and hinged fold away number plates are fitted for road use. Rear number plate light fitted to make road legal. The popular modification whereby the blackout marker lights are wired as indicators has been carried out. (This particularly useful as most drivers don’t recognise the hand signal for turning right when you are sat on the left side of a vehicle!)
As you would expect it drives like new. Starts on the button, gear change is silky smooth with fully working synchromesh, steering sharp and brakes that stop you as they should. The canvas roof and seats are perfect and it has new half doors from Worthings.
Included are the fire extinguisher, British WD Brades shovel dated 1939, WD Pick axe dated 1942 and British 1943 jerry can.
It’s ready to jump in and drive anywhere! To discuss more about the Jeep and its history or to view please give us a call.
Delivery anywhere in the UK is possible just call to discuss, Chris on 07708147740. (Aberdeenshire)
I'm on the look out for an unmolested Hotchkiss/Willys Jeep. Nothing that needs major work as my resources (and skills!) are limited. Price for the right vehicle is negotiable.
